Unfair Suspension

On September 16th, 2014 Jameis Winston stood on a table in the middle of Florida State’s Union and screamed FHRITP. And on September 17th, 2014 it was decided that due to this he would be suspended for the first half of the Clemson game for the upcoming weekend.

I don’t care what team you support or which college you go to, every college age student should think this is extremely stupid. Jameis is a public figure, I understand that, but he’s also a 20 year old football player and a human boy. It was a harmless joke and shouldn’t be taken as seriously as it was. He did not say this to one specific person, which would be sexual harassment, he just yelled it. That is not grounds for a full first half suspension on the a big game of the year. Allow the kid to make some human mistakes. Regardless of what he’s been accused of in the past, this SMALL infraction should not cause him a suspension. Not to mention the man who said this on live tv has become a hilarious figure and society, basically being praised for his actions since it was so funny. This should NOT be such a big deal.

Jameis is representing the school he attends. To promulgate such domination to such a large number of witnesses is grossly insensitive to the far-too-high number of people who have been raped and/or coerced into alleging consent to sex. I agree that a half-game suspension in unfair. A permanent suspension is more fair.
