UCLA Admissions Seriously Screws Up

The UCLA Admissions department seriously screwed up last week. After sending out some early admissions letters, the University accidentally offered admission to 894 students that were actually just on the wait list. To add to the confusion, the students also received a financial aid statement that said they were on the waiting list.

After a few phone calls and a realization of the mistake, the admissions department revoked the admissions  and had this to say:

“We realize this is a particularly anxious and stressful time for students and their families as they try to make decisions about college admissions. We sincerely apologize for this mistake that may have led some of them to think they were admitted when they remain on the waiting lists”

The UC system has had problems like this in the past, so the university – though the blame simple human error – will be launching an investigation into how the acceptance letters were accidentally sent out.
