Top Three Things You Should Know When Visiting An Out Of State College

1) People might dress differently – For instance the girls could show basically their ENTIRE buttcheeks while casually walking to class past bunches of advertising church organizations and overly horny males, while you’re used to only seeing that at the ratchet night club downtown. Or you could witness, as I did, the girls who had shells in their hair as accessories and wore nike pros as pants, which you were never used to. Even the guys change it up. From chubbies and polos as I always saw, to the occasional guy in a full on suit or maybe even the feminine bro with the way past your knee cargo shorts and a crop top…yeah that one was a sight for sore eyes.

Either way, you get used to it, as long as you don’t adapt into their strange way of dress, you’ll find the normal ones and be just fine.

2) The weather can be WAY different - Always listen to the locals on this one. If they tell you to always have an umbrella on you, listen, because it will rain every day, and you will curse yourself for not listening and you slosh back to your dorm looking like a wet rat. If they tell you it gets ridiculously hot, so stay hydrated, listen, or you will be the one embarrassing kid that passes out and holds up traffic because the EMT is picking you up. If they tell you during the “winter” one day it can be flip flop weather and the next it can be boots, listen, otherwise you will be making an unnecessary amount of annoying trips back to your dorm to once again change. Just listen, you don’t know all, they do.

3) Greek life WILL be different - Certain chapters at your home state’s college could be absolutely fantastic. They could have all the stunning girls or the absolute frattiest guys. Whereas in the new state you venture into, that same sorority with the beautiful girls could be the awkward uncomfortable group, and those fratty guys could be the “dad types” who’ve been kicked off the row for not gaining enough pledges. Never assume that each chapter will be the same because believe me, you will be surprised.
