Florida State University was put on lockdown and secured early Thursday after a gunman opened fire in a campus library and was then killed by the police.  We have the full story here with a terrifying video at the bottom of the article. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone at FSU during these times. Nobody ever thinks something of this nature could happen on their campus. It’s scary to think how all of this happened, and we have the full story below with a scary video at the end of the article that will give you goosebumps. Here’s the full story:

A representative of the Tallahassee Police Department said at a news briefing that three people were being treated for gunshot wounds.

FSUNews.com reported that the shooting occurred at around 12:30 a.m. local time on the first floor of the Strozier Library, a multistory building at the center of the campus. The site reported that at least four gunshots were heard and approximately 30 police officers responded to the scene.

The university sent out a “dangerous situation” alert after midnight Thursday, cautioning students and faculty to seek shelter indoors. At 2:41 a.m., it issued a statement on its Facebook page declaring the campus secured. It was not immediately clear if the wounded being treated at the hospital were students.

Allison Kope, a freshman from Cocoa Beach, said she was on the library’s first floor when said she heard a loud noise and then there was a lot of commotion. She said people were screaming about a gunman and chairs started flipping over.

“You never think something like this is going to happen to you until you have to react in that situation when someone is screaming there is a gun in the building. I ran for my life,” she said. “I ran right out the backdoor. My laptop and everything is still in there. It was shock. It was just instinct. You don’t think about anything else, you just go.”

Reo Morris, 24, a second-year graduate student from Clearwater, Fla., received the advisory on his phone. He said in a phone interview that he was in touch with friends at Strozier Library who were under lockdown as the police searched for a shooter.

Toni Haywood, a junior, told ABC News that she was on the second floor of Strozier Library at about 12:30 a.m. when she heard gunshots. Minutes later, people on the first floor ran upstairs, telling students to hide, she said.

“The police came on the intercom and said that there was a gunman in the lobby, and I think he said two people had been shot,” Ms. Haywood told ABC News. “He said to stay away from doors and windows and to stay where we were. We all waited, then the police came back on and said the gunman was in custody and to stay where we were.”

Mr. Morris said he frequently worked late at the library.

“I have no clue what could have possibly happened to make someone do that,” he said.

The university, one of the largest in Florida, has about 40,000 students enrolled in 16 colleges spread across Tallahassee, the state capital. The university has recently drawn criticism for reports of preferential treatment in criminal matters for athletes on its football team, a contender for this year’s national collegiate championship.
