Five Simple Hangover Cures

As college students, we know how to party all too well. With that being said, we, too, know what it’s like to hug the porcelain throne all morning. Next time you’re out on the town and feeling the brunt of it in the morning, try these five simple, yet crucial hangover cures:

1. Greasy Food and Gatorade

Nothing soaks up your nausea and headache like a greasy breakfast sandwich and refreshing Gatorade to wash it down. But, be careful. Sometimes consumption of said greasy food can just make you feel worse. If that’s the case, chug that Gatorade quicker than the beer you did last night and munch on some crackers.

2. Cold Rag

Mother truly knows best… a cold rag can soothe almost anything. Run a rag under cold water, or hey, even put it in the freezer for a little after it’s wet. Apply to your forehead or your neck, take a nap, and you’ll be good as new. True story.

3. Aspirin, Emergen-C, Ibuprofen… oh my!

On the real, you know nothing feels better than popping two Aleve, chugging a glass of ice cold water and sleeping it off while the medicine works its magic. To prevent a hangover in the first place, taking Aleve before bed works as well. What I’ve found out recently, though, is that Emergen-C and Alka-Seltzer might, in fact, be the real MVP. Try it out for yourself.

4. NOT the “Hair of the Dog”

If we’re being honest, this is probably the worst hangover cure and the most upsetting of college students to hear. Of course, throwing a few beers back in the morning will “ease” your hungover symptoms, but this can lead to alcohol dependency. Plus, you need to give your body a chance to recover before you take on Saturday night all over again.

5. Time

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again– sleeping it off works 100% of the time, every time. Put it this way, you won’t feel this way forever. When it doubt, seriously nap it out and you’ll wake up feeling refreshed so you can make your power moves to the next house party.
