Classes That Need To Be Taught In College

1. Common Sense 101. Book smarts can only take you so far in life. There are some things that every person on this planet needs to know but just doesn’t have the common sense to realize it. For example, it’s common sense to put on deodorant every day but the guy next to me in my writing class doesn’t know that.

2. Learning Your Drinking Limits. This is a skill that I admittedly have not mastered. Imagine having a class where you learn how much you should drink to be at the perfect drunk level. There would be labs one day where you would learn your limits with wine and another day with vodka. Let’s work together to make this happen.

3. How To Balance A Checkbook. Everyone in life needs to learn how to balance a checkbook in order to keep track of their money and not go broke. This vital skill will help you know where your money goes, which in my case, is most likely going towards food. If this was a class, I’d probably get some self control so that food isn’t the ultimate cause of me being poor.

4. Basic U.S. Citizenship Questions. When I was in high school, my history teacher gave the class a U.S. citizenship test made up of questions given to immigrants that want to become a citizen of this country. Every person in the class got at least one question wrong. All U.S. citizens should want to master those questions and be proud of our country. #’Merica

5. The Art Of Flirting. Anyone who doesn’t want to die alone should want this class to be offered at their college. Living in a time ruled by technology has caused most people to become socially awkward. If you can’t talk to people naturally then you won’t have a prayer of being a natural flirt. For the sake of people like Mike The Situation that thinks lifting up their shirt is a promising technique of flirting, let’s get this class in session.

6. Simple Grammar. I can’t stress this one enough. There is a difference between your and you’re. There is a difference between there, their, and they’re. There is a difference between than and then. So please, for the love of God, learn the difference. Learning this simple grammar, and applying it to things like your cover letter and resume, may be the difference between getting a job or not.

7. Quit Procrastinating Today. This course needs to exist. Everyone, including the person that actually uses a planner, would need this class so it would have to be available for all grades. I can’t really comment much on what this class would possibly consist of because I am brain dead when it comes to ways of how to not procrastinate. For example, I am procrastinating on a paper right now by writing this blog instead.

8. How To Parallel Park. This class should have a prerequisite on basic driving skills for those that mysteriously got a license. Most people get the idea of how to decently parallel park for their drivers test and then avoid parallel parking at all costs for the rest of their lives. If I ever have to parallel park, I get out of the car and let whoever is with me to do it. Then again, I am a girl so I’m not the best driver. To the girls that claim they can actually drive well and parallel park, I salute you.
