10 Ways You Know You Go To Penn State

Penn State is the GREATEST school in the world, and everyone knows it. But what makes going to Penn State so special? There are lots good school for partying and academics like us, but these 10 things make Penn Staters unique!

 

1. You don’t have to walk far to see Greek letters on a house. With 89 fraternities and sororities, Penn State has the LARGEST Greek Life in the world! With that many organizations any interested party can find a fit for them, whether it be social, academic, or philanthropic.

 

2. You Participate in THON! Thanks to the largest Greek Life in the world, we also have the largest student-run philanthropic event in the world! For 46 hours straight, Penn Staters will dance for the Four Diamonds Fund which raises money for pediatric cancer. In 2014, THON raised over 13 million dollars!

 

3. You EncounterSocial Squirrels. No matter where you go on campus, those squirrels will be there looking to rip food from your hands. People feed them, play with them, and in one girls case even pick them up and walk with them!

 

4. You LOVE Berkey! The Berkey Creamery is one of the most popular attractions on campus. No better chocolate milk or ice cream in the world! In fact, Ben and Jerry learned how to make ice cream here!

 

5. Vladimir is Your Friend. When 40,000 broke college kids are trying to have a good time in Happy Valley, they turn to Vladimir vodka and Natty Light. These staples of the school make drinking cheap… but definitely not easy.

 

 

7. You Have 110,000 Friends on Saturday. There is nothing like being in Beaver Stadium for a Nittany Lion football game! The comradery of the fans is unmatched, and win or lose you’ll find us all singing the alma mater with our arms around each other!

 

8. You’ve Seen the Willard Preacher. Every weekday you can find Gary Cattell outside of the Willard Building telling every student that walks by that they will probably burn in hell. Since 1982 he has judged, argued with, and preached to the students that walk by.

 

9. You Can Get Pizza a Dollar a Slice. The famous Asher Roth song, “I Love College” was written about his weekend visit at Penn State. While here he experienced Canyon Pizza, and decided to mention its prices in his PSU anthem.

 

10. You’re a Traditionalist. PSU has been full of tradition since its founding in 1855, and they have earned some national attention. THON was just voted one of the top 20 college traditions in the country by Business Insider, the classic blue and white football jerseys were voted the best jerseys in the game by NFL.com, and Penn State has the tradition of producing great future employees. In fact we were voted the best school for getting a job right of college by the Wall Street Journal! Penn State has a tradition of excellence!
